MY REVIEW:
In the first book 'Harappa: Curse of the Blood River', we saw, Vivasvan Pujari, the devta of Harappa during 1700 BCE, is betrayed by his trusted friend Pundit Chandradhar and his wife Priyamvada and condemned to the mrit-kaaraavaas or the dungeons of hell, where he is dragged and tortured like an animal. The devta, the Surya of Harappa- Vivasvan Pujari- swears vengeance.

In the present day of Banaras, 2017- Vidyut Shastri, an young entrepreneur from Delhi is summoned by his great grandfather, Dwarka Shastri, the 108 years old mystic leader of the Dev-Raakshasa Matth, located in the ancient city of Banaras. Thereupon, he learns about the haunting story of Harappa, narrated to him by Dwarka Shastri . He reveals to Vidyut that he is the last devta, the divine saviour of all humankind and is none other than Vivasvan Pujari, reincarnated 3,700 years later to fulfill his ultimate destiny.

'Pralay: The Great Deluge' is the sequel to it's first part Harappa and starts exactly from where the first book ends. Just like the first book, this book too takes place in different time periods and locations- 1700 BCE, East of Harappa; 1700 BCE, West of Harappa; 325 AD, Bithynian City (modern-day Turkey) and Banaras(2017).

The writing style of the author was enthralling and his vocabulary was notable. The narrative style was gripping and fast paced and I didn't take much time to finish the book. Vineet Bajpai is an amazing storyteller. The way he had described all the events, readers can very easily visualize it happening in front of them. The initial few chapters were a bit boring, but as the story progressed it became more interesting. The book ends on a cliffhanger note, thus paving way for the 3rd and final part of the series.

The plot line was captivating with full of action, twists and thrill, making the book an absolute page turner. The author has introduced many new characters in the second book and each character had their role to play. However, at times, too many characters were making the plot complicated and the pace monotonous.

This book will appeal to those readers who are fond of genres like mythology and historical fictions. Even if one has not read the first part of the series, they can easily read the second one as the books starts with the summary of the events that happened in the previous book.

All in all, I liked reading the book and now I am eagerly waiting for the final part of the series- 'Kashi: Secret of the Black Temple.'
