"Proper Planning is the key to success; hard work never goes in vain."

PLOTLINE:

The story is set in a small town of Varanasi and revolves around the protagonist Shlok, his trials and tribulations in career and love life. Although, he is not a very good student, Shlok is very hard working, and his dream is to make his parents proud and happy. In the meanwhile, he meets his next door neighbor Natasha and fell in love with her. With Natasha in his life, Shlok became very focused and passed his board exam with flying colors.

After passing his board exams, he started to prepare for medical entrance exams in order to fulfill his father’s dream of becoming a successful doctor. In spite of his lot of efforts, he failed to crack the exam and lost all his hope and aspirations.

So what will Shlok do now? Will he give up his dreams and ambitions? Or will he choose a new path in his life?

MY REVIEW:

‘Sunshine Town’ is Maniissh Aroraa’s debut novel. He has written a kind of a story with which everyone will be able to connect emotionally. I will start with what I liked about the book. First of all, I loved the cover which is very bright and aesthetic and coincides with the plot of the book.

The writing style was simple and basic, and the narration was smooth along with a proper editing. The message that the author has tried to convey from his book is that “hard work always pays off!” The character of Shlok, his hard work to achieve a goal with precise planning was something which really inspired me and I am sure that it is going to inspire and motivate the other readers as well.

Another thing that I loved about this book was Shlok’s relationship with his parents. His mother was caring, adorable and supportive, and his father always encouraged him and gave him advice whenever he needed it. They never tried to force their opinions on him and accepted all his decisions.

But, I feel that, if the author had said more about the characters of Natasha (Shlok’s girlfriend) and Yana ( Shlok’s best friend in college) in the story, I would have loved it more.

Nevertheless, I would recommend everyone to read this book at least once. Especially those people, who are unable to take decision about what they want in their life, what they want to do or what they want to become, they should read this book.
