MY RATING: 3/5

PLOTLINE:
Love curry is a story that revolves around three South Asians living together in the same flat in London- Ali, Shehzad and Rishi.

Ali is a Pakistani chef who dreams of earning enough money so that he can set up his own nihari restaurant in his hometown, Lahore.

Shehzad is a tattoo artist from Dhaka, Bangladesh who has a painful past.

Rishi is from Agra, India who has come to London to recover from a bad breakup that has broken him completely.

The three flat mates always stand for each other and dreams of re uniting their countries. The tragic part in the story comes when the three of them fell in love with the same girl, Zeenat Amaan, their landlord’s daughter. What happens after that? Whom does Zeenat choose in the end? Read the book to find it out.

MY REVIEW:

Love curry is novel with a fun plot line coinciding with the title of the story, which is, a medley of love and life and all things that comes in between.

The narrative style is smooth, mixed with fun and humorous content, along with some quirky dialogues and the concept of food being constant throughout the story. The vocabulary used by the author was basic and neat, comprising of a few cheesy lines. The characters sketched by the author in this novel, was also pretty simple and easy to relate.

The novel is a refreshing read that bears resemblance with many Bollywood movies, and also has the elements of becoming one. The story has dramatic twists and turns, but the twist that comes before the end of the story, when the three friends decides to propose their lady love was something I didn’t quite understand and the necessity of its inclusion.

Overall, I would say that the novel was a fun read with an interesting story line. If one is looking for a light read in the weekend or holidays, they should definitely go with it.
