MY REVIEW:
'Hope and Sunshine' is a beautiful tale on love, family and friendship. It revolves around the life of Naina, a punjabi girl from Delhi who works in a company in Kolkata. She is in a long distance relationship with her boyfriend Ved, but unsure of their future lives as Ved is not ready to take their relationship to the next level.
Things take a turn for the better when Aditya joined her company as the new Zonal HR Manager. Naina finds him attractive but is not ready to accept it as she is already in a relationship. Later, she came to know that Aditya is friends with her favorite cousin Arjun. The three of them started hanging out together and Naina became best friends with Aditya in no time.
The author has a weaved a very simple story with these three main characters- Naina, Arjun and Aditya. Naina is a smart, independent and cheerful girl. Arjun, a supportive cousin and Aditya is kind of a guy, whom every girl would want in their life. I loved the hangouts of the trio, specially because the author has beautifully portrayed the city of joy which is so vivid and vibrant that the readers can actually visualize Kolkata in front of their eyes.
The story had a good pace and the ending was nice, however I was disappointed with the narrative style. The story at times jumped from one part to another, leaving the former part incomplete. There were editing mistakes too. Also, i didn't like the mushy phone call conversations between Ved and Naina.
All in all, 'Hope and Sunshine' by Debasmita Nath Ghosh was a feel-good kind of a story. Readers who enjoy romantic fictions might like to read this book.
