Goodbye SSR!

FINAL GOODBYE TO SUSHANT SINGH RAJPUT

This is not a bookish post as you can see from the title. I know that the person for whom I am writing this post will never be able to read it, but I am doing it so that I can release my pent-up emotions which have been nagging me since 14th June 2020.

I don't think that I need to introduce Sushant Singh Rajput as the whole world knows about him right now! To be honest, I was never his fan but I will admit that he is one of the finest actors of Bollywood and has done some really good movies. I remember watching him in the movie- MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, and how mesmerized I was after watching his performance. It would be really hard for anyone who has watched this movie, to differentiate between the reel and real MS Dhoni. Yes! That was the kind of performance SSR gave in this movie. I have also watched some of his other movies such as Kai Poche, PK, Chhichhore, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi, and Dil Bechara (Watched Chhichhore and Dil Bechara after his death!).

In this post, I want to talk about his last movie 'Dil Bechara' that I watched yesterday (24th July 2020). I remember in 2018 when this movie was first announced, I was not very happy about it. Dil Bechara is a remake of 'The fault in our stars', which is one of my favorite books. The book portrays the love story of two cancer patients- Hazel and Augustus and has already been adapted into a Hollywood movie where the role of Augustus and Hazel has been played by Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley respectively. In my heart, I always knew that no one can play the role of Augustus better than Ansel Elgort.

However, after watching Dil Bechara, I couldn't stop myself from falling for SSR who played the role of Immanuel Rajkumar Junior (the role of Augustus from TFIOS). Some of the scenes in the movie was difficult to watch as it was too close to reality. I couldn't help but blush when SSR said 'Chal Jhooti' to Kizie Basu/Hazel (played by Sanjana Sanghi), and also felt a deep sadness when he said 'Janam kab lena hain aur marna kab hain ye hum decide nahi kar sakte hain, par kaise jeena hain wo hum decide kar sakte hain!' From now onwards, I want to remember SSR as Augustus, forever!

Dil Bechara is breaking all kinds of records in the world. But, I wonder whether anyone would have showered this movie with this kind of love if he was alive.

The thing that is constantly nagging all the people until now is his death! How can such a brilliant person like SSR who was into astronomy and physics can die by suicide. Also, no one will ever get to know the reason why he did so. This is something he has taken with himself to his grave!

It's time to bid him goodbye and remember him as one of the legendary actors whom we lost too soon. At least for me, he is not dead. He will be alive in my heart, always and forever!
