If Narasimha refuses, the world might just end. What will he do? And why did he leave the war in the first place?
Prahlad, the interim king of Kashyapuri, is torn between the ideals of his unrighteous father and his love for Lord Vishnu. Whom will he choose?
Hiranyakashyap, the ruler of the Asura Empire wants to avenge the death of his wife. To do that, he must go through the Trials and get the ultimate weapon - the Brahmastra. But the Trials have sent so many others to their death. Can Hiranyakashyap survive?
MY REVIEW:
'Narasimha: The Mahaavatar Trilogy' by the author Kevin Missal is the reimagining of the fourth Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
This the story of Narasimha, a warrior who is half-man, half-lion from the land of Illavarti. Guilt-ridden after killing so many innocents, Narasimha has left war and is living his life as a physician in a village. But, when Lord Indra, the king of Devas and Devlok, comes to seek his help, he ponders if he should reconsider his decision.
The story also revolves around Hiranyakasyap, the ruler of the Asura Empire who is hell-bent on killing Indra to avenge his wife's death Kayadhu and his younger son Prahlad who is torn between his love for his father and his love for Lord Vishnu.
To know what happens next in their story, read the book!
'Narasimha: The Mahaavatar Trilogy' is my first book by Kevin Missal and I am glad that I chose to read it! The narrative style is enthralling and keeps the reader hooked right from the very beginning. I must say that Kevin Missal is a brilliant storyteller! The effort he has to put to create a spellbinding plot is remarkable.
All the characters have been portrayed and presented uniquely by the author. One could connect with the emotions of these characters. The language is simple and easy to comprehend. The plotline is action-packed and the mythological features incorporated by the author are very well researched.
The book ends on a cliffhanger and I am eagerly waiting for the second part now!
All in all, 'Narasimha: The Mahaavatar Trilogy' was an entertaining read for me! I would count this book among my top three favorites (in mythological fiction) and would recommend this book to all the fans of mythological fiction.
