On a rainy September night, six people are gunned down mercilessly in an old Parsi café in Mumbai. The mass murder at café Mehboob, located barely a few hundred meters from the police station, and right next to one of the busiest railway stations in Mumbai, jolts the city out of its complacence. The media immediately swings into action, while political pressure mounts on the police force to nab the mass murderer.

With everyone eager to place the blame of the murders on a madman in a bid to have the case dismissed swiftly, the headstrong Inspector Intekhaab Abbas is determined to get to the bottom of the murders. On probing the lives of the victims, he stumbles upon a heady cocktail of love, lust, jealousy, betrayal, rage, longing, misery, and ecstasy.

Mehboob murderer, Nupur Anand’s debut novel, unravels a stunning truth neither the police nor the reader is prepared for.

MY REVIEW:
'Mehboob Murderer' by the debutant author Nupur Anand is a crime fiction that follows the story of Inspector Abbas and his team solving the murder mystery of six people who were killed gruesomely in an old Parsi cafe in Mumbai named Cafe Mehboob.

Six people are gunned down mercilessly in an old Parsi cafe in Mumbai named Cafe Mehboob. Inspector Abbas and his team get the task to solve the crime within 14 days. The more they get into the case, the more complicated it becomes.

Will they be able to find out the murderer? Read the story to find it out.

The reason I picked up this book was because of its blurb. I found it so intriguing. And I am glad I did pick it up because the book was indeed remarkable.

The narrative style was fast-paced and very engagingThe 'whodunnit' factor makes the book unputdownable. It was hard for me to fall asleep before finishing the book. Nupur Anand is a brilliant storyteller. I liked the way she has characterized the city of Mumbai in the novel. The way she has etched all the characters and set the plotline, it is commendable. I loved reading the background stories as well as the emotional insights of all the characters.

The language was simple and lucid. The only thing that irked me about this book was the editing mistakes. The ending was dramatic. I hope that the author writes a second book on it.

All in all, 'Mehboob Murderer' was a nail-biting thriller and I had a good time reading it. I would definitely recommend this book to all the murder mystery/thriller fans.
