MY REVIEW:
Do you judge a book by it's cover? Well, to be honest I never do that. But, when this book came to me for review purpose, I thought that the cover is kinda provoking! However, when I started reading it, I understood that the story is totally opposite of what I thought.
Ishana is one of the top models in India. The story starts with Ishana attending a fashion show as a showstopper. After the show, when a man calls her a 'slut', she hits him by smashing a champagne glass on his head. As expected, this incident made big headlines the next day. In order to avoid the media, she went to a bar where a young journalist named Ravi confronts her. He asks her to explain that why people calls her a 'slut'. Although, Ishana has never revealed anything about her past to anybody, she opened up to him because he reminded her of her younger brother. The story then goes back to year 2000, from where it all started.
What was the reason behind people calling Ishana a slut? You need to read the book to find it out!
The writing style of the author was simple and eloquent. The narration was so engaging and fast-paced that it was impossible for me to put the book down before finishing it. I took about 4 hours to finish it! The climax was thrilling! I am eagerly waiting to read the next part of the book now.
The author has brought to light a very sensitive issue in her book. She has tried to describe how people doesn't think twice before judging someone and labeling them as a 'slut' , 'whore' and other such terms! When a girl is frank and friendly with a boy, the boy thinks that the girl is giving him the liberty to be intimate with her. But unfortunately, the society will blame the girl for being a pervert. I feel female readers like me will definitely connect with this book.
All in all, I enjoyed reading the novel 'The Slut Chronicles: Betrayed'. If you want to read a romantic fiction with a tinge of thriller in it, then I would definitely recommend this book!
