PLOTLINE:

The story is set in Tamara, a small mundane village on the banks of river Kaveri. It starts with Vedant Birajdar, receiving numerous voice messages in his answering machine from his childhood best friend Jay, pleading him to return to Tamara. Vedant has left the village 8 years ago, after a wild night out with Jay turned disastrous, and never came back. According to Jay, he and Vedant's brother Tarun is in danger and he might never see him again.

Surprised Vedant returns to Tamara only to learn that Jay had committed suicide, and Tarun was missing. Misha, Jay's brother and also his first love was engaged to Raunak. He was also surprised to learn that Tarun got married to a girl named Divya, about which his brother never informed him. As Ved started searching for answers about what really happened to Jay and Tarun, he received warnings to go back, was threatened that his life would be in danger if he gets himself involved, and even attacked.

Misha does not believe her brother, Jay, committed suicide. Yet, she has no reason to believe otherwise. Not until, Vedant turns up at her doorstep, bleeding and seeking her help.

Together with Misha and Raunak, Vedant started to investigate, and the more deep they delved into the matter, the more shocking truths came out, something which was unbelievable.

But can Misha trust Vedant? He had already betrayed her once 8 years ago, leaving her all alone without even saying a goodbye. Will Ved be able to find Tarun? What was the real reason behind Ved's fleeing 8 years ago? Read the book to find it out. . .

MY REVIEW:
'Betrayals and Paybacks' is the debut novel of Sana Shetty, and I would say that she has done a really good job. The cover of the book is intense and the title is very much apt with the plot line. The plot line is very detailed, engaging and intriguing, which is definitely going to keep a reader hooked till the end. The author has been successful in creating as well as keeping the suspense until the end. The ending was totally unpredictable, as the main culprit was someone, whom I didn't expect to be the guilty person at all.

Moreover, the story is fast-paced, engrossing and a definite page turner. The narration is quite addictive and thoroughly descriptive. However, I feel the ending could have been better, and, some of the sentences in the book was confusing, which can be attributed to editing mistakes.

I would definitely recommend this book to all the thriller lovers.
